WE HAND LANDED IN MAUI FOR THE WINTER

Aloha Blog Readers,

I’m Emily, Brett’s sous-chef, girlfriend, and travel partner.

I’ll be co-blogging with Brett for the next 3 months as we farm, eat, and explore our way around Maui.

We arrived around noon today and were picked up from the airport by the welcoming and friendly Bill Greenleaf. First stop: Mana Foods, a delightful organic grocery shop where we stocked up on a few staples. It was so refreshing to purchase papayas and tropical fruits after a long season of apples, beets and other root veggies.

After enjoying some take-out from Mana (kale salad, pea salad and sushi rolls) in the truck, we arrived at the Greenleaf farm and met the lovely Marta Greenleaf who gave us a tour of the farm that we will call home for the next few months as well as a fruit sampling that included star fruit, chermoya and jacon.

Experienced our first Maui sunset this evening.

We are looking forward to attending the Maui Farmer’s union monthly meeting and potluck tomorrow — cant wait to tell you all about it.
