COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE, NOBLE GARDENS, WEEK II

This week we almost forgot to go and pick up our CSA basket but luckily remembered at the last minute!  I am SO glad we made it because everything is so fresh and tasty.  This week’s loot consisted of strawberries, leafy green kale, broccoli and green onions.  We didn’t waste any time and whipped up a Brassica Salad for lunch today.  The idea with this was that we would counter the turkey smokie I had at the market yesterday (Thanks to the Winters) and the elk smokie at Weadickville at the Stampede (Thanks to Second to None meats).  Weird fact: As I was writing this I couldn’t decide on the spelling of smokie/smokey.  After searching wikipedia.org I found out that a smokie is also “…afood prepared by blowtorching the fleece off the unskinned carcass of an old sheep or goat.”  I’ll stick with the turkey or elk smokie, thank you very much.
