COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE, NOBLE GARDENS, WEEK I

This week marked the first week of Noble Gardens’ CSA pick-up.  For those of you that are unfamiliar with CSA,  it stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  When you sign up  for a CSA ($350 for a half share, $700 for a full share) you are essentially purchasing a share in the land and during the growing season you get a basket of vegetables/fruits each week from that land.  On the flip side, if there is a string of bad weather (knock on wood) and the crops get destroyed, you will be affected!  This year was our first year signing up and we were quite excited when it was time for our first pick-up at the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Farmer’s Market on Wednesday.  In this week’s CSA we got a basil plant, spinach, red-russion kale, butterleaf lettuce and scallions!  Sounds pretty great to me!
