I landed back on Maui yesterday and have been keeping busy ever since. Our first stop from the airport had us back at Mana foods for a nice take out lunch which we ate at Paia Bay Beach. We spent the rest of the day settling in and making plans for the coming days. Saturday was all about sourcing food for the OMB Retreat that starts today in Huelo. I started the morning nice and at the Upcountry Farmer's market in Kula. This market has exploded since we were here last year and it was really great to see. Lots of new vendors have started selling there and a lot of familiar faces as well! After hanging out there for a couple of hours I headed up to Greenleaf farm where Emily and I stayed for a couple of months last year. Lots of change was happening there as well! I finished up the morning by visiting a local farmer to pick up some super-fresh Venison. Later in the afternoon I met up with my Friend Noah who is a farmer upcountry. Noah will be helping me out with this retreat in the kitchen and on the produce side! We had the opportunity to cook together a bit last year so I am really looking forward to getting back in the kitchen with him! I'm now off to Mana to get some final provisions for the retreat. Stay tuned to hear what we are up to down at Hale Akua!
