Last week I had the pleasure of going on a farm tour to southern Alberta to meet some local suppliers and have a really amazing lunch. The tour was organized by Rudy Knitel of Galimax Trading. Galimax is a great supplier of all things local ranging from meats and cheeses to veggies and vinegar! In previous years the tour has gone to several farms near Fort Macleod but they changed it up this year and everyone met at Fairwinds Organic Goat Farm. The day consisted of a meet and greet between chefs from Calgary, Canmore and Banff with about 10 different suppliers followed by an amazing lunch and a meet and greet with the goats! We also got to check out the cheese making process by the owner of Fairwinds Farm, Ben Oudshoorn.
Such a great spread! One of the highlights for me were the rabbit and pine nut meatballs.
